From there, our team develops an individualized treatment plan, which may include cognitive behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) or a combination of these options. TMS for Smoking Cessation

Working with a trained psychiatric professional, TMS sessions last between 25-30 minutes. They start with your therapist inducing smoking cravings. After that, you wear a small helmet attached to our clinically-proven BrainsWay Deep TMS machine. The device produces magnetic pulses, which feel like light taps on the scalp, that target brain regions compromised in those with addictive behaviors. Afterwards, you’ll have a brief therapy discussion designed to motivate and reinforce your desire to quit smoking

How Will I Know Which Smoking Cessation Option Is Right for Me?

While FDA-approved TMS is a cutting-edge option gaining popularity for smoking cessation, we know it may not be the best option for everyone. We also have access to the latest pharmacotherapeutic smoking cessation tools, such as Chantix (nicotine receptor agonist) or Wellbutrin (an antidepressant known to help with smoking cessation), and more. In the great majority of cases, patients do require at least some form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a reinforcement strategy in their treatment plan, regardless of whether they use pharmacotherapeutic options, TMS, or both.
