What Is PRISM Neurofeedback?
PRISM uses a soft EEG cap and an interactive computer exercise to provide real-time feedback about brain activity. During a session, patients try personal mental strategies—such as recalling a memory, emotion, or experience—and use the on-screen feedback to learn which strategies help shift the targeted brain pattern.
The system records EEG activity; it does not deliver electrical or magnetic stimulation. PRISM is used as part of a broader treatment plan and does not replace prescribed medication, psychotherapy, or other care recommended by your clinician.

The Benefits of PRISM Neurofeedback
PRISM gives patients immediate feedback while they practice personal mental strategies. Over time, that feedback may help a patient identify a strategy they can use to regulate the targeted brain activity pattern.
The treatment is personalized, noninvasive, and does not deliver electrical or magnetic stimulation. PRISM is performed in the clinic with professional guidance and considered alongside the rest of the patient’s psychiatric care.
How to Prepare for PRISM Neurofeedback
Before treatment begins, a Nevada Mental Health clinician reviews your symptoms, treatment history, current care, and goals to determine whether PRISM may be appropriate. The team will explain how the treatment works, what you will do during sessions, and how your progress will be monitored.
You will also receive instructions about the recommended schedule and anything you should do before arriving for a session.

Your First PRISM Neurofeedback Session
PRISM sessions take place in a quiet room at Nevada Mental Health. You remain seated and awake while wearing a soft EEG cap and interacting with a computer exercise. The treatment is noninvasive and does not require anesthesia or an implanted device.
During the session, the program provides immediate visual and audio feedback as you try different mental strategies. A trained team member guides the session, and your clinician considers your progress alongside the rest of your treatment plan.
Is PRISM Neurofeedback For Me?
Eligibility requires an individual clinical evaluation.
PRISM may be considered for patients with PTSD or depression based on their symptoms, treatment history, current care, and clinical needs. It is not the right option for everyone, and eligibility requires an individual evaluation.
The care team can also discuss expected costs and any insurance considerations before you begin treatment.
