What does it take to make mental health care easier to access—and to keep that care personal as a practice grows? Nevada Mental Health co-founders Dr. Sid Khurana and Dr. Timothy Jeider explored those questions with Patranya Bhoolsuwan on Entrepreneur Showcase Series.

In the conversation, they reflected on NMH’s beginnings, changing attitudes toward mental health, the role of telehealth, and the connection between physical and mental well-being. Watch the full interview below, then read a recap of the main themes.

A Practice Built Around Access to Care

Dr. Khurana described the idea behind NMH: people using insurance should be able to receive attentive, high-quality psychiatric care. That goal shaped the practice from the beginning and continues to guide its growth.

Dr. Jeider recalled opening a new practice with no existing patient base and seeing its first patients. As the team has grown, the founders have continued to focus on the people seeking care and the barriers that can make getting help difficult. For Dr. Khurana, growth is meaningful when the practice can maintain both quality and access.

Making It Easier to Talk About Mental Health

Dr. Jeider reflected on how more people sharing their experiences can help others feel comfortable acknowledging what they are going through. He also recognized that social media has drawbacks; his point was about the value of openness and the willingness to seek support.

The conversation highlighted the variety of experiences people bring to treatment, from young adulthood through later life. There is no single story behind someone’s decision to ask for help. Dr. Jeider encouraged people to pause, consider how things are going, and check in with the people in their support network.

Telehealth as a Practical Option

Access is about more than having an appointment available. Travel, traffic, and time away from work can also make care harder to fit into daily life. Dr. Khurana explained how telehealth can reduce some of those obstacles.

He emphasized that telehealth is not the right fit for every person or every visit, while describing it as an important option in psychiatric care. Learn more about online psychiatry at NMH and discuss appointment options with the care team.

Connecting Mental and Physical Health

Dr. Jeider used a familiar example—a poor night’s sleep—to explain how physical health and mental well-being can affect one another. That connection also informs the practice’s approach to integrative care.

The founders discussed bringing certain physical-health services closer to psychiatric care, including basic monitoring and coordination with other providers. NMH’s Integrative Care services support psychiatric treatment and do not replace comprehensive primary care, specialty care, or emergency care.

More Options, With Care That Fits the Person

The interview also covers the practice’s expanding treatment options, its work with Teachers Health Trust, and the founders’ priorities for the future. Throughout the discussion, they return to the importance of helping people understand their options and maintaining quality as the organization grows.
