What Is Integrative Mental Health?

Integrative mental health looks at the whole person instead of treating mental and physical health as completely separate concerns. It can help the care team identify physical health factors that may be contributing to symptoms, affecting medication decisions, or slowing progress.

Mental and physical health are closely connected. Sleep, medications, medical conditions, nutrition, fatigue, and other physical health factors can all affect how a person feels and responds to psychiatric treatment.

Integrative mental health care at Nevada Mental Health brings these pieces together. Our goal is to support psychiatric care with timely health checks, testing, and coordination when physical health may be affecting mental wellness.

Integrative Care Includes

EKGs and Basic Health Checks

Point-of-Care Laboratory Testing

Physical Examinations and Well Checks

Vaccinations

Medication and Health-History Review

Coordination With Primary Care and Specialists

Bringing these services closer to psychiatric care may reduce delays and help patients and providers make better-informed treatment decisions.

Whole-Person Support

Integrative care at Nevada Mental Health provides limited primary care support—including routine health checks, physicals, vaccinations, testing, and minor-condition management—alongside psychiatric treatment. It does not replace comprehensive primary care, specialty care, or emergency medical care. When additional or ongoing medical care is needed, the team will coordinate with or refer patients to an appropriate primary care provider or specialist.

Who May Benefit?

Integrative mental health care may be helpful when psychiatric treatment is affected by physical health concerns or barriers to timely care.

Your care team can help determine whether integrative support is appropriate for your situation.

  • Sleep problems or ongoing fatigue
  • Medication side effects or interactions
  • Chronic medical conditions
  • Changes in appetite, weight, or metabolism
  • Barriers to timely testing or routine health care
  • A need for closer coordination between mental and physical health providers

How It Fits With Psychiatric Care

Integrative services are designed to work alongside Nevada Mental Health’s adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, medication management, and interventional psychiatry services. Recommendations are based on each patient’s symptoms, history, current treatment, and clinical needs.

When additional care is needed, the team can coordinate with a patient’s primary care provider or another specialist.
