What is TMS?
TMS is a drug-free, non-invasive, and personalized depression therapy.
TMS is a neurostimulation technology that uses a magnetic coil to activate neural networks in target areas of the brain implicated in mental health and addiction disorders. BrainsWay Deep TMS ™ treatment involves sitting comfortably in a chair in our office and wearing a helmet for approximately 20 minutes. TMS treatment does not cause systemic side effects and does not require hospitalization or anesthesia.

The Benefits of TMS
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation has revolutionized the treatment of mental health and addiction, with FDA-clearances to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and smoking addiction. There are many benefits to TMS. This treatment is effective, safe, and generally well-tolerated for people with these common brain disorders. The treatment has been demonstrated to be effective for those who have not improved sufficiently from medication or psychotherapy.
How Does TMS Work?
TMS is like giving your brain a gentle wake-up call. We use a special device to send small magnetic pulses to certain parts of your brain, kind of like tapping it on the shoulder. This tapping helps to activate or calm down specific areas, sort of like adjusting the volume on a radio. Over time, these little taps can make a big difference, especially for things like mood or anxiety. It’s a personalized approach to enhancing brain function and promoting mental well-being over the course of treatment. It’s a great option for adult psychiatric treatment. TMS has also recently been approved for adolescents at least 15 years old.
Your First TMS Session
As we work together, we’ll discuss your individual goals and concerns to tailor TMS sessions to your unique needs. Your care is supervised by a board-certified psychiatrist, including the initial mapping process that helps determine the proper treatment location and settings. The sessions are seamlessly integrated into your overall treatment plan, and we can adjust factors like intensity and frequency based on how you’re responding. This personalized approach helps ensure treatment is thoughtful, precise, and aligned with your needs.
